Something seems to be happening in the world of 'worship music', something exciting and long overdue. That 'something' is that songs and albums of worship are becoming far more contemporary and original in sound. It appears that song writers are beginning to look beyond simply trying to recreate the sound of Matt Redman or Stuart Townend. The excellent recent offerings from Trent and the Burn Band are prime examples of this containing songs that on the one hand can be used in corporate worship but on the other can also be listened to and enjoyed outside of a 'worship' context. This six-song EP by Scotland-based singer/songwriter Eddie Thomson is another good case in point. Although not labelled as a worship album the lyrics and structure of the songs convey the sense that these are songs to be sung to our God with the numbers "We Lift You Up" and "Sing To You" full of exhortation and praise. But this is no half hearted demo recorded in a front room, rather it is a well produced music with a slight, rocky edge. One to investigate.

This cd is really good. Well worth a listen. Specialy like the last two.
