In 1859 revival came to Coleraine; today the town is seeing signs of God moving again through a monthly 24 hour worship event, Engage 24. To coin a phrase, “this CD does what it says on the tin,” captures a sense of the event, open and spontaneous worship, in just over an hour of material. Most of the 12 tracks represent the work of the two worship leaders and instigators of the event, Andy Rogers and Ian Hannah, and include some thoughtful and indeed worshipful lyrics. Understandably the album has a Celtic flavour, with the Ullean pipes enlivening Robin Mark’s “You’re The Lion Of Judah”, the opening track, and the more reflective “Lord You Are My Righteousness”, which has a touch of U2 about it. Having said that, much of the album has a retro feel to it, due to Mike Busbee and his Hammond B3. Capturing a live worship event is difficult; ‘Engage 24’ succeeds better than most. Let’s pray for the continuing success of the event itself.
