Eric Cross is straight out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and this is the follow up to his 2006 album 'The Message'. There are some real crackers to be found on this bold and wonderfully coherent LP like the blast of soul power that drives the quick-fire lyrical wordplay of "Dry My Eyes". "Let It Go" addresses the need to give your worries and cares back to Christ with a blend of laid back R&B and truth-heavy rhymes whilst "The Bounce" is a club banger that would give Jay-Z a run for his money. These are just a few examples which show the sheer variety and quality on offer here. More than just clever sound-bytes or great production, Cross is an artist with a great knowledge of the genre and genuine gift for communicating truth and delivering incisive observation with both honesty and humour. 'The Art Of Composition' is truly a gem which will have your repeat button on more overtime than the average workaholic.
