Ernie Haase has been leading his group Signature Sound for some years now and has already successfully broadened the appeal of Southern Gospel into the gospel music mainstream. This live recording at Anderson University, Indiana is a musical tribute to southern gospel legends the Cathedral Quartet a group that Ernie Haase was once a member of. For many years The Cathedrals had been one of the leading Southern Gospel quartets based around the staunch duo of Glen Payne and the late George Younce. The songs here come from the veteran's vast repertoire and Haase has reinvigorated their songs on this musical tour de force by his sheer enthusiasm, love of the music and fabulous stage presence. Much of this material would have been staple fair on Southern Convention gospel shows many years ago and Ernie Haase and his cohorts really work up a very moving tribute. I particularly enjoyed Ernie's moving recollection of his very first appearance with The Cathedrals and later on we are introduced to George Younce's and Glen Payne's surviving relatives seated amongst the enthusiastic audience. My favourite track is the very catchy country number "My Heart Is A Chapel" while "He Made A Change" and "We Shall See Jesus" both have their moments. Bill Gaither and Squire Parsons make guest appearances on "Walk With Me" and the very moving "Sweet Beulah Land". There is also some neat usage of video clips of the original Cathedrals linked to the current group on stage. This DVD represents tremendous value for money running for nearly 2 hours, and I am sure will prove popular both with younger Haase fans and southern gospel nostalgists.
