Fergus Marsh is a Chapman stick and bass player who has worked with the likes of Bruce Cockburn ('Stealing Fire', 'World Of Wonders', 'Big Circumstance' and 'Bruce Cockburn Live') and Mark Heard ('Dry Bones Dance').This project is described on the cover by vocalist Steve Bell as "Eclectic Groove/Worship...a collection of Scripture based melodies that drift and bob over extended grooves and atmospheric soloing." This a good summary, but don't expect a recording that is easy to categorise as each listen highlights something new, such as "Psalm 63" which concentrates on just a short part of the Scripture sung beautifully by Shawna Baer,or "Nuthin" which gives more than just a nod to a '70s dance beat. The only slightly disappointing track (in relative terms!) is the instrumental ("At The Foot Of The Cross") at the end of the disc which, although beautiful, goes on for nine minutes and so loses some of its impact. There is no doubt that the musicianship featured here is first class and this is a great CD for those, like me, who were blessed by previous eclectic worship recordings such as 'Higher' (Dashboard Saint).
