This is an independent roots reggae release that has managed to capture a genuine roots sound, something which is often missing on gospel reggae albums. With family roots in Birmingham and Jamaica, Fikre Selassie (his name means "lover of the Trinity") has been making music for years and this independently released album brings together an uncompromising message with some great rootsy sounds. What I love about this is the pure joy of a lot of the songs and the skill Fikre has for creating catchy melodies. Vocally he's the real deal! I love the summer feel of "Good Morning" and the inspiring sounds of "God Is Love". "Jah Jah Brings Joy" is a reggae interpretation of Manfred Mann's "Joybringer", itself a take off of "Ode To Joy"! If you're into reggae music then this is a little gem that, if you go for roots reggae, definitely needs your attention.
