When those seminal Jesus Music harmonisers 2nd Chapter Of Acts left Word in the mid '70s, the label went searching for a vocal group to fill the gap. Marty McCall, Gary Pigg and Cindy Lipford were discovered and promptly signed up and released this debut album. Although they would later go in a rockier direction, this first 1977 album is characterised by Keith Green-esque piano rhythms and what sounds like an attempt to re-create the success of 2nd Chapter. "Open Your Eyes" and "Takin' A Rest" sound like they could easily have sat on a Keith Green album. There's nothing groundbreaking here and this slots into a fairly typical mellow Christian pop sound of the era without ruffling any feathers. "Carrying On" and "Presence Of The Lord" are about as lively as it gets here but you get the feeling that someone from the label was encouraging the producer to press the mute button just in case things got out of hand. I guess all groups have to start somewhere and this debut showcases the group's vocal harmonies nicely in place.
