This group of instrumentalists released their own albums and also acted as a backing band for amongst others, Pat Boone and pianist Del Wood. This is their debut album from 1973 which mixes elements of what today we'd call Americana and pop. For fans of Jesus music of this era or children whose parents used to play their albums, there is a lot of nostalgia for these recordings. What you get is a selection of Christian songs and hymns. The piano playing and Jeff Newman's steel guitar are the signature sound for the band and they were clearly having fun here. There's a rollicking version of "Daddy Sang Bass", an electric version of "I Am A Pilgrim" and plenty of good ole boy versions of hymns.

This album is well produced and is one of my firm favourites. It would be good if it were available on CD.
