There are many excellent live' recordings around at the moment. By 'live' I mean recorded in a church/concert setting and then taken back to the studio where overdubs, corrections and finalising can produce a mint product. This is great, but when you then listen to a CD that is totally live, you can tell the difference, which could affect your appraisal of the latter. This I found on picking up My Saviour's Love. I could criticise the mix, the simple arrangements and the not-so-slick final result, but I won't. What we have here is a recording of worship during Focusfest '99, an event in Northern Ireland attended by over 4000 ladies and led by an all-female band. The sincerity and power in the worship is evident, and what the musicians may lack in confidence, they more than make up for in portrayal of a heart to worship. Together with the great voice of Geraldine Latty leading, this is a competent and pleasing recording well worthy of a listen.
