First things first, let's get the lazy "female fronted goth band" comparisons out of the way; while there may be the occasional nod to Lacuna Coil there's not even a hint of Nightwish, Within Temptation or Evanescence. A far more helpful way to describe the bands style is to ignore Vonnie King's voice, as lovely as it is, and instead focus on everyone else. What you find is a motley crew of progressive rock/metal fans, think Dream Theater or Fates Warning, made up of ex-members of Believer, Sacrament and Sardonix. Rather than anything too driving or gutsy, this release is much more defined by its ethereal and melancholic feel. It makes sense that the main songwriter is ex-Believer man Jeff King as most of the songs hold the keyboard work as its linchpin. Vonnie's haunting voice acts as a modern day siren, drawing you into the music but it just isn't enough to keep me listening and I have to say the album does sound a little dated sounding like it was produced in the mid-'90s.
