Young Fred from Maidstone lists his many and diverse influences on his website, but two of them stand out when you listen to this self-produced debut album - Jack Johnson and Newton Faulkner. The fine melodies and poppy rhythms and riffs weave through the set from the appropriately named opener "Debut" to the closing "Amazing". "Epiphany", "Butterfly" and "Lullaby" are memorable songs with articulate lyrics as well as catchy tunes. As with so many self-produced albums, the production could do with being a bit sharper, but the promise of great things to come from a young man who really knows how to craft a song is definitely there.
