The next band to follow the Winans and Commissioned into the fast expanding (and lucrative) world of inspirational dance? The opener "The Word Is" isn't just hot, it's molten, and mixed for 12 inch dub consuption could crossover. Elsewhere, there's plenty here to show that Freedom, a fiery voiced four man vocal group whose lead singer has one of those well muscled lead voices that in ages past would have sounded great fronting a 'hard' quartet and sounds equally effective in these sophisticated 90s over pumping dance rhythm (hats off to producer Matthew Huesmann who knows a thing or three about getting a track to kick) and sweet soul-ballads. The only ball dropped was allowing some squeaky voiced kids in for some interjections on one of the ballads, but all in all this is another fine example of how America's black church is leaping into the 90s.
