Garrison is a well above average American gospel singer who, for a time, found an enthusiastic audience in, of all places, Tokyo, Japan! This live recording made in a large auditorium shows just why he made an impact in this most non-Christian of nations. Garrison sings and plays piano to a high level of accomplishment. His band are all very tight and they seem to be having a whale of a time. Material wise, Garrison clearly decided to go down the populist road with such standards as "Oh Happy Day", "This Little Light of Mine" and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful". It's a great performance and I was particularly impressed with the bass player who gets up and sings and blows Davis out of the water with his awesome vocal ability. The quality of the filming is not stellar, but you get a sense of the "live-ness" of the evening. It's a very enjoyable watch and I would love to see how my church family reacted if a band like this came to lead us in worship!
