It's clear listening to this that Gary Oliver wishes he had been born black! That apart, he has a good go at this gospel funk in a sort of Carman style. Unlike Carman, he ha the vocal chords to carry it off. Pumping it up on "I Know He Is Able" and "He Really Will", complete with stirring preacher sample, Gary has the chance to let loose vocally and he's got a decent voice backed by some serious Dan Cleary produced funk! "Dance Shout" will have you doing just that! Dancing and shouting! It's not all up-tempo and in your face, there are some moody ballads too. The best of them is "Resting Place", complete with pulsing bass and supporting harmonies to complement Gary's vocal. Smoothly produced with a fine performance from Gary Oliver who proves that not only is he a fine singer, he's also capable of writing high quality material. He penned the majority of the tunes here. The lyrical focus of this is definitely heavenward so this really is an R&B worship experience.

I bought this CD in 1995 and still listen to it today. For me it is about the best praise and worship CD I have ever had. I love all the songs, but the last one on the CD, "Spirit of the Lord Divine" always lifts me up when I'm having a rough day. I know people wonder whats going on when I'm shouting in my car going down the road.
