For the uninitiated, Moore is a 16-album CCM veteran and a contemporary of Michael W Smith and Steven Curtis Chapman. He has written with both men, and has a similar type of sound. The Distance was his band between 1988 and 1997, before Geoff decided to continue as a solo artist. Drawing on tracks from the band's five albums up to 1995, this compilation is a confusing release. Sticking mainly to early '90s releases 'A Friend Like U', 'Evolution' and 'Home Run', this compilation is what it says, a very best of. The songs sound dated and the production is very 1980s AOR sounding. However this will be a good starting point for those who have discovered Geoff's new acoustic-based albums and want to investigate his rock past. There is plenty of truth and spirit in the songs, and Geoff is definitely a man focussed on God. But this cheap and cheerful rummage through the archives may be a bit too dated for many palettes.
