Geron Davis is famous for penning "Holy Ground", a personal favourite of American president Bill Clinton. As a worship leader and songwriter, Geron has enjoyed considerable success in the USA and even sung as part of Bill Gaither's Homecoming posse (sorry, Friends). Here he forms a vocal quartet with wife Becky, sister Alyson and brother-in-law Shelton Lovern. The majority of the music here is studio programmed with a few live instruments and of course the blend of the four voices. The result is a pleasant brand of inspirational pop. Where it works well, like on the groove of the title track and the Latin tinged "Fill The Air" or the straight forward pop of the catchy "Flow", then it's very good. There's even a funky remake of "Nothing But The Blood" and the first half of the album is generally taken with this kind of material. But then for the second half it generally belly flops into a turgid pool of forgettable ballads. Chief of these is an ironically pretty dull six-minute version of "Holy Ground" built on the foundation of an old backing track. Big mistake! If ever there was an opportunity to bring the song into the 21st century, this was the moment and instead it feels rather out of place. Oh dear, a case of treating your own past success with too much reverence methinks.

First time I heard about Geron Davis was the connection regarding the song "Holy Ground"; great song Geron!! The song is definitely, without a doubt, Heaven sent!! I have the original version of the song he recorded from 80's era with trio, Davis/Pedigo: I really like the earlier version. The title song "Let it Rain" I luved immediately...great song Geron!! The quartet provides nice strong harmony vocals for the title song. If you have ever seen earlier pics from the 80's of Geron and then see him on the cover of this cd, you'd definitely see quite a change in his appearance. I have a few of his older projects with trio Davis/Pedigo; they recorded some great songs in the 80's decade; to include the classic "What HE is will Never Change" from 1989. Thank you Geron for soo many wonderful GOD given songs to share! GOD Bless! - Don

Contrary to the above article, Alyson is Geron's sister, and Shelton Lovern is her husband (Geron's brother-in-law. I know these people well.
