Here's a new band with a touch of pedigree. Guitarist Steve Doxey and drummer Andy Jackson are both ex-members of veteran Christian hard rock band Force 3. So is this new project the moshfest you might expect? Er...no! With Get Real! Andy and Steve have mixed their rock influences with some soul and funk ele­ments to create a quite contemporary sound. There is an almost acid jazz feel to "Gotta Get Away", a solid dose of heavy guitar on "Over The Hill" and a smooth bass line adds flavour to "Lonely". I fell the lead vocals were a bit disappointing in general and the band would have done well to spend more time on these. Overall, though, a promising debut EP from this Northern outfit.
