Does anyone out there in readerland remember a band called Spider? Quo wannabes but rougher, tougher and with an edge. Gethsemane Rose have that same edge and grit which is immensely refreshing, like a cold Ginger Beer instead of lemonade. There is nothing sweet and smooth about them. I'd hate to see what the Americans would do with them! The music's tight, loud and uncompromising - even the first two 'ballads'. The lyrics are not as obvious as some would like, but no less powerful. Ben Mears' vocals are ideally suited to the stories and messages within each song. Two songs to highlight are "Find The Time" (we all lose if God isn't reigning in us) and "Thorn" (Jesus leaving God's side then God not helping him when on the cross). Powerful stuff!! A couple of the arrangements could've been better and the last song seems very downbeat and very out of place; but I'm just griping at minor things. Overall, a VERY, VERY GOOD ALBUM. I would suggest that you ALL go out and by this immediately. Support a great British band.
