The difficulty with a capella music is that there are no instruments lo provide breaks for the vocalists and to relieve the tedium for listeners. It is left to the vocalists to come up with imaginative enough arrangements to keep the listener interested (or record very short songs!). Glad seem lo have pulled it off on this fine CD which includes 11 great tracks featuring a variety of songs from past and present. There are arrangements of pieces by Isaac Watts. Mark Altrogge. Twila Paris and others, all given the usual high-gloss Glad treatment. There is yet another version of Rich Mullins' "Awesome God" and good arrangements of "He Is Exalted" and Darlene Zschech's "Shout To The Lord" classic. On some of the tracks the addition of percussion helps move the music along, but it's the wonderful blend of male voices that really carries the day. A pleasant alternative to synthesisers and guitars.
