I first heard Godfrey Birtill at the Grapevine Celebration in Lincoln in August 2001 when I was part of the Grapevine FM team. I remember my first reaction being "Where on earth is this guy coming from - his songs just don't seem to fit in with anything!" Seven years later I'm glad to say that I was wrong. Over the years his songwriting has come on in leaps and bounds with loads (such as "Outrageous Grace") now being covered by other artists and being sung worldwide. Plus many, myself included, have come to recognise that Godfrey is a genuinely prophetic (though somewhat unconventional) talent. This DVD showcases some of his best and most well known songs performed live in the way that only Godfrey can do them and though his rugged voice won't be to everyone's tastes the spiritual depth of his songwriting demands attention. As a benefit for those who still don't get where this eccentric prophetic worship man is coming from there are several extended interviews included as bonus material where he talks to Chris Bowater about his past, where is now and what he'd like to do in the future. A fascinating package.
