Graham Ord was a seldom appreciated talent given scant attention in his British homeland (save for those in the know who delighted in his idiosyncratic work with the Wesley Brothers). Now Graham is firmly established as the pastor of a Vineyard church in Quebeck, Canada. This delightful set brings out Graham's tremulous poignancy on songs like "Love Lies Bleeding" written from the perspective of John watching Jesus being crucified) while on more personal songs like "With A Longing" he shows a fine lyricist's insight ("I've seen the despondency in teenage eyes/As they reach out for the unobtainable prize"). Can't say I care for the received by the Spirit worship song "You Are God". But mostly these folk and country-tinged offerings are beautifully sung and arranged with understated taste.
