London-based Burgess has gone for something very different here from the standard collection of acoustic guitar-based worship songs, offering as she does in this selection of nine self-penned tracks (70 minutes of music) an expression of intimacy with God and vulnerability not usually encountered. This strong sense of her openness and defencelessness (but never weakness) is sensitively conveyed while the songs, arrangements and production are all skilfully executed. The length of the CD gives a clue as to 'Welcome Of Heaven''s major defect, namely that many of the songs here are expanded making for much repetition. Such an approach is currently popular in "soaking music" circles but often doesn't translate to the particular demands of the CD listener. Helen is a much loved vocalist who down the years has worked alongside many of the British Church's leading figures in worship music so it is a shame that there isn't a more dynamic approach taken.
