Hero Next Door were an alternative pop-rock band, based in Wiltshire. The band consisted of Beckie Nielson (lead singer), Lucas Penas (guitar) and Ben (drums). "Derelict" was going to be the first single from an album, 'Songs In The Night' which, as it turned out, didn't materialise (having formed in early 2010 playing in pubs and clubs, and for youth groups around Swindon and North Wiltshire, they split up after performing at Greenbelt 2010). Beckie is an impressive singer having sung solos at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and live at venues across the North West. Their first (and last) single reflects the growing disillusionment, which the band has sensed around the lives of young people. Beckie explained, "From every quarter it seems young people are getting advice on how to fix their lives - but in most cases the advice seems to be more about preserving what's gone before than anything else. 'Derelict' is our shout for people to stop trying to fix what's not broken." There is also an acoustic track, "Everything I Ever Did" and a stunningly stormy rocker "You And Whose Army".
