Another release in the Hit Songs Kids Style series which also offers 'Top Worship Hits' and 'Top Pop Hits'. It's a cute idea to get a bunch of kids singing hits by the likes of Third Day, Audio Adrenaline and Switchfoot to a real rock band backing. As is so often the case with these sort of releases the credits are minimal with no information at all as to the identity of the performers. Overall, vocally it sounds a bit samey and in truth the shrill efforts of the kids don't always match the rock sound. Having said that, this album avoids sounding as twee as many children's releases, apart perhaps from the rendition of Audio Adrenaline's "Big House" which wouldn't be out of place on Sesame Street. And I can't help but think that most people, probably kids included, would prefer to hear the originals of songs like Third Day's "Your Love Oh Lord" and Charlie Peacock's "In The Light" to the versions served up here while the language and life experience of the latter song is surely beyond the grasp of a child.
