This man's songs have been eagerly grabbed by a whole posse of country superstars, but the old adage comes true again: the writer interprets "em best. Moore's Nashville base betrays the reality that he's not typically country. His sound is back porch, swampy and moody. Sorta Tony Joe White. "Delta Moon" and "Condition Of The Heart" arc heavy with funky laid-back guitar rhythm and sizzling interplay with lead guitar and bass. "Prodigal Song" is a plaintive. emolional song about our long journey home, and "Home Again" is very John Denver is style. "Just Because We Do" is a wonderful composition describing the beauty of growing older peacefully, and a really potent track is "You Can't Ever Tell About Folks", a plea not to be judgmental. This CD is a display of songwriler/singcr/guitarisl skills par excellence. Backed by a neat band including several big-name Nashville session men. Hunter Moore proves to be one of the best.
