This is the second album from Surrey-based (though Ethiopian-born) musician Ian Ottaway, a follow-up to his well rated 2002 disc 'Hope'. Like that, this is a truly credible indie recording infused with genuine ability. Ian has a fine voice and he creates solid songs of spirituality - apparently "written in the midst of family crisis" - which are subtly engaging. What's more, as with his debut, Ian has the full support of well known names like Sue Rinaldi, Stuart Barbour and Caroline Bonnett, all of whom provide their musical assistance here. Many tracks are based on Bonnett's deft keyboard sounds (the disc is also recorded, mixed and produced by Bonnett). At times there's a clear (though presumably unconscious) resemblance between Ian and Russ Hughes of Detling fame. The overall sound is varied, with a good mixture of catchy, upbeat songs and more laid-back numbers. It's an accomplished sound and pleasing to the ear. A promising disc, and further evidence of the talent within the UK worship scene.

great album, we play it loads, title track is played over and over! Ian has a real ministry in music, and we can certainly sense God's hand at work through his life and music. Keep it up Ian - keep going!!

This is a varied CD providing catchy enjoyable sounds with meaningful lyrics. Several tracks are a real encouragement for those who are feeling crushed in Spirit and seeking shelter from the storm. Both 'Your Love' on the 'Hope' album and 'City of Refuge' provide the much needed comfort that only God can provide through His music. Purchase recommended.
