I found this album by the Surrey-based singer/songwriter immediately appealing. The opening track, "Unfailing Love", is a catchy prayer song. Actually, most of the songs are in prayer format, addressed directly to God in a respectful and confident way. For the most part this is chilled out gospel, mellow, relaxed and easy in the Lord's presence. At times I was reminded of James Taylor by the tuneful and easy vocals. The musical arrangements are uncluttered and are of a high standard (especially keyboards, drums and the fine acoustic/electric guitar work), while the harmony vocals are particularly appealing. Like the best prayer songs there's a sense of intimacy - there's no better example than "You Are Love", a song that could go far. Many of the songs are Scripture-based, with Isaiah and the Psalms providing much of the inspiration. Isaiah 2:5 is the source of the appropriate final track "Come Let Us Walk (Together)", an encouraging hymn that leads us from the album back into daily life with a renewed commitment to God. The delivery of these songs exudes a genuine spirit - no pretentiousness, no gimmicks, no ego tripping. The words are largely simple and direct.
