A big improvement on their debut cassette, this London-based team take in a lot of mainstream influences but retain a quirky individuality. Their strengths are some above-average programming and a lead vocalist who, with his mannered Englishness, shows hints of Morrisey and a dozen more, yet always seems to find the right laconic mood. Weakness is that over the length of an album that voice starts to wear, particularly while questionable pitching spoils enjoyment too. But the danceable title track and the poignant "Too Good To Be True" definitely demonstrate a band working their way steadily towards the 'proper' album deal
