Ish and Andy, Rev Counta and the Speedoze, Ishmael United, Glorie Company. Ian Smale has quite a his­tory. (You can read it in CR13. Ed) It is, of course, Ish's rise as the bouncy, larger-than-life hero of thou­sands of children which concerns us here. He's come a long way since those little men with bedspring legs appeared on what was basically a new wave/rock album. Ish and his Glories here bring us 12 old hymns for kids, but this collection (as you would expect) has no church organ music gently breezing behind angelic children's voices - not by a long shot! Midi master Tim Jupp has put kicking arrangements to the likes of "All Things Bright And Beautiful" and "Jesus Bids Us Shine". If you can imagine how the Pet Shop Boys might sound playing such classics, you've got the idea! The adults will love hearing the old songs, the kids will enjoy learning these 'new' numbers. I think Ish has it cracked; who says "you can't please all the peo­ple"?
