Hailing from California, JML stands for Justa Music Legend and this is his first effort. JML wants his hip-hop to reach people that hip-hop has not reached before and he feels that his music has something for everyone. His emphasis on the message comes strongly through the album. He tackles diverse subjects such as celebrity, violence, pride ("Number One)" and the Gospel "Not Ashamed"). However I am still struggling to remember a lot of the tracks as they kind of meandered by and failed to ignite anything in me. It's not that it's a bad album but comparing him to a lot of other rappers JML is not there (yet). There is so much quality gospel hip-hop around that this doesn't compare. JML has potential but he needs to take up the bar a few notches, especially musically. The beats are adequate but nothing special. The theme of the jabiru (apparently the tallest flying bird found in Southern and Central America) which brings a message to the jungle (the city) doesn't quite work either.
