Youthful Praise aren't so youthful anymore; they've been on the American Gospel music scene for around 20 years now - and their experience and proficiency is certainly evident in this new 12-track album. JJ Hairston is still comfortably at the helm of the 32 piece choir, and this time round he's more involved in the writing process, having penned 10 of the songs himself. 'After This' also features a whole host of special guests, including some of Hairston's main influences, Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Pastor John P Kee. The opening track, "Lord Of All" (featuring Walker) kicks off the album like a shot of adrenaline which carries through to "Now" which softens the tone and emphasises the smooth piano and string section. Although the title track has achieved chart success as the lead single, the highlight of the disc for me is "You", which blends the classic R&B feel but adds a grittier, pulsing rhythm and bass line. However, though the choir's quality is unarguable, many of the songs tend to drag out, and some fade out prematurely, which creates an awkward stop/start feeling for a live album. But there's still much on this set worth exploring.

Product Description
YOUTHFUL PRAISE AND WORSHIP LEADER, JAMES “JJ” HAIRSTON, HAVE TRAVELLED THE WORLD, MINISTERED THE GOSPEL, AND HAVE GARNERED NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION.

Through their career, YP has set a new standard regarding the “church choir” and show no signs of slowing down. With 20 years in the ministry, “YP” has undoubtedly learned to trust what God has done and will continue to do for them.

Founded in 1992, the choir was birthed out of their home church, Cathedral of Praise in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the group remains as one of the church’s choirs. As their ministry grew they began singing background for artists such as Destiny’s Child, Pastor Shirley Caesar, and SWV, to name a few.

Since their initial foray into professional music ministry, Hairston and YP have enjoyed many successes, such as countless awards, numerous national television appearances and several hit songs and album releases.

The forthcoming release promises to continue YP’s legacy of marrying traditional “Sunday Morning” Gospel music with urban, contemporary, and mainstream influences, and boasts guest appearances from label mate James Fortune, as well as Gospel luminaries Pastor John P. Kee, LaShun Pace, Tye Tribbett, and YP mentor, Bishop Hezekiah Walker.

The lead single, “After This,” has already achieved success, currently a Top 15 single on the Gospel BDS Radio Chart.
