Formed in 1991, James Bellamy and TC is a gospel group from the USA, and first of all, I should point out that James Bellamy is nothing to do with Jon Bellamy, CEO of Cross Rhythms wile TC is not Tony Cummings, the esteemed music editor of this website. In fact, TC stands for Triumphant in Christ (which I suppose Tony is really, but I digress). I had expected some serious testifyin' and church wreckin' on this one, especially as these guys have shared platforms with gospel legends such as BeBe & CeCe Winans and LaShun Pace. However, le tout ensemble is only James and five other voices, so whilst everyone gives 110 per cent, all that effort can't make up for the fundamental shortage of personnel. James tries his best to do some spirit-lifting worship leading, but sadly succumbs to the predictable gospel clichés, and the material, whilst largely original compositions is sadly formulaic with most of the song themes having been covered thousands of times before. Personally, I believe that this would have been a far more satisfying listen if done by a larger choir and live. As it is, this is for diehard gospel aficionados only.
