This is not the first time Missouri-based composer James Schindler has reimagined a hymn in an epic setting; his 2008 arrangement of the Lord's Prayer rose above its limited budget and synthesised orchestra to be a truly moving experience. Now, I'm a massive fan of any song or piece that aims for the most lavish, extravagant, over-the-top arrangement possible, and Schindler does not fail at all on that front. Strings sweep and swell and sizzle along minor chords, the melody bristles and glowers and is appropriately awe-inspiring, choirs weigh in to raise the chorus to heaven. Unfortunately, probably for budgetary reasons, these strings and choirs are entirely synthetic, which doesn't allow us to hear the full majesty of the arrangement. I wish I could give this a much higher rating; alas, the metallic and tinny-sounding synth orchestra and claustrophobic, unpolished production let down the excellent architecture. The orchestration, though, I reiterate, is excellent, and I would love to hear it interpreted by live musicians and choirs-it's powerful, menacing against the forces of darkness, imposing, just like the mighty fortress of the title.

I would again like to thank Cross Rhythms for their ministry and their Artist support. Without their artist support possibly not a single note I have written would be heard around the world. The review was insightful, kind, and accurate. A decision had to be made how to write and complete complex works. And grow from that point, allowing us to stay in music ministry. This was our first attempt standing on are own two feet. This step will also allow us to help other christian song writers in our area who would never be able to afford studio time. Hence the the still to come birth of StLouisChristianSongwriters.com Mighty Fortress gave me courage as a child. It is quite possible in the near future, if not now, we will need a huge dose of courage from God. A Hans Zimmer Quote "when a composer goes into a room with a blank sheet of paper, when the music is finally written and played, people can see who the composer is on the inside."As for James Schindler, "Hopefully my God and People can see who I am on the inside." We love cross rhythms! Sincerely, James Schindler LordsPrayerAnthem.com
