Currently this album can hardly be prized off the Cummings' CD player. A thrilling demonstration that America's Christian counter-culture can produce pop rock of the highest quality. Now, of course, those already familiar with this gem (which recently hit the number one spot in America's Christian music charts - a unique achievement for a debut album) will point out the slight musical debt to REM while other longer-in-the-tooth buffs might want to mention the band of folk rockers owe a smidgen to the Californian soft rock sound of the 70s. But whatever their influences, these guys have come up with an album chock-a-block with songwriting craft, production skill, creamy harmonies and luminous discipleship. Impossible to pick a favourite, and there's even a 'secret' hidden track for trivia nuts.
