The Jasper Street Company is "one of Baltimore's finest gospel choirs" and although this is their debut album, they have actually been around since 1994 and eulogised in past issues of Cross Rhythms. It is a collection of remixes of some of their most popular material by some familiar names: Roger Sanchez, Mousse T and others. Stylistically this CD is quite wide, but for pigeon holing purposes, think gospel music and lyrics over house grooves. One of the outstanding vocals on this set is by diva extraordinaire Ann Nesby. I found myself very much enjoying these mixes, a standout for me being the opener "Praisn' His Name", while devotees of teh dancefloor will recognise this as a gem.
