I was reading Buzz magazine back in 1983 when a certain Tony Cummings was writing, actually he was raving about a 12 inch single released through RCA Records sung by an unknown singer. A couple of weeks later, I was flicking through the racks at my local indie record store and there it was! It was one of the best purchasing decisions I ever made. The track falls into the category of old fashioned testifying placed over a groove that is a mix of old school gospel and '80s disco. The track drives along with a huge instrumental introduction called "Harmony" before seamlessly transforming into "I Got It". I know nothing of singer Jayne Edwards or but the woman has a belter of a voice and here she is getting excited about the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is the experience she is hollering about. Along the way a sax player steps into the limelight to add a few licks and then out of nowhere, it sounds like a reverend steps up to the mic to add his enthusiastic interjections to the proceedings. They exchange a call and response for a while until the track finishes neatly with some great harmony backing and Jayne Edwards vamping like a good one. Trust me, this is an absolute gospel classic and deserves to be resurrected from obscurity onto a compilation for people to discover.

Miss Edwards had several releases including: "It Should Have Been Me", "Walk Away Satisfied" "Rhythm Of Your Lies" "Determination" "Baby You Can Work Me" and of course Harmony / I Got it. Jayne Edwards was on the original bluebells single "Junkman" and when the record became a hit, patti and co rerecorded the song and toured as the bluebells. Sadly miss edwards passed away earlier in 2018. She was an example of an artist that was truly unsung.
