A collection of 10 jazzy gospel tracks in a mellow mood from some real cool cookies (kool kookies) Stateside. Dale Harr and Kee have put together some lovely gentle tracks which make a pleasant change from the rank and file gospel output. There are a number of differing solo instruments that work beautifully against a conventional rhythm section - flugel horn, sax, nylonn guitar, vibes and so on, piano taking some lovely solos, too. The repertoire is lovely. "Un Lugar Celestial" is teased along at a soothingly low pace and is quite magnificent. Other tracks include "Holy Holy Holy", "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", "Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho", I'm sure you get the idea. The only downside is that it's all a bit jazz funk, without subtler textures of the wider jazz spectrum seeping in. The synthetic strings and clapping machine is a bit disconcerting but the soloists are strong and well produced and therefore confidence is not badly damaged with these minor aberrations.
