The inserts of this disc give virtually no info about this Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based musician except that she composed all five songs on this 20 minute EP, on which, as well as providing competent vocals, she equally ably plays piano and flute. It's an original and hard-to-categorise recording, as her sound doesn't fit easily into any standard style. The opening "Stardom" is a chirpy pop number with a strong groove and great sax improvisation which delights in the fame and awe of the risen Christ. Calvert's intention appears to be to explore differing qualities of God's personality in every song. Thus, "Unseen" is a ponderous, moody tune, which relates a potent sense of the mystery of the Almighty. "Scorching Love" is a powerful percussion-driven piece, while the short, acoustic "All My Bruises" is personal, intimate and deeply moving. A creative recording, with good musicianship and production. We want to hear more.

After hearing her perform two songs last year and two more this year at my school I knew I heard talent and I had to buy the EP. I talked to her for a little bit afterwards and she's a truly great person. I wish she had signed the EP, I'll have to ask her if she comes back.
