Down the years Jeremy, in making radio-friendly pop rock has built up a massive US following so, I suppose, it's hardly surprising that the CCM star should release a Christmas project. However, what makes 'Christmas: God With Us' different from so many yuletide albums is not so much the songs as the atmosphere. Avoiding all traces of gloopy sentimentality and cringeworthy Santa songs (with the exception of a not particularly good version of "Jingle Bell Rock") Jeremy instead wisely chooses some theologically rich carols so that though one has often heard "Joy To The World", "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" and "O Little Town Of Bethlehem" delivered here with worshipful passion and solid, guitar-based arrangements, make them quite listenable. So if you're looking for a Christmas album with a bit of worshipful atmosphere, this is for you.
