With the British Church having in part at least pioneered contemporary worship music with a rock edge it might be tempting to ignore the new wave of young American worship teachers who’ve emerged onto the scene in recent years. But those with an ear for gritty pop rock and a heart to connect through worship with the lover of our souls may already have Jeremy’s excellent ‘Stay’ predecessor. This new one, with its all out worship focus, is a gem with clean yet inventive production, top rate songs and plenty of room for Jeremy’s huskily soulful voice to grip the listener. The covers – Danny Daniels, Chris Tomlin, Tim Hughes (check out Jeremy’s magnificent version of “Beautiful One”) - are artfully chosen while his own compositions like “Hear My Voice” and “Walk By Faith” are every bit as good. Some may find this a tad formulaic but for me the passion and power of Jeremy’s vertical love songs make it one of the outstanding worship albums of the last few years.
