Every now and again a reviewer will be faced with a track which refuses to fit the neat categories we use - R&B, pop, gospel, whatever. The little I know about Jessica is that she's based in London and in 2012 released a mini-album, 'Salt & Light', under the name Jessica Seri. But this unclassifiable single is something else and with staccato lines sung over a complex choir arrangement it's a song that draws you in and refuses to let go. A confessional lyric of having neglected God, a masterly arrangement and production and one spine-tingling moment when the piano, rhythm and choir cut away and Jessica calls out to the Spirit to bring her to repentance make this one of the best and most inventive tracks I've heard for many a long day. Try and hear it.
