Seventies rock, techno, reggae, as well as trad folk and more mellow worship styles - this is a showcase of the (still anonymous!) talent behind the Jesus Fellowship. The 14 tracks are taken from albums released in the last four years and some of the rougher live tracks have been so well re-mixed you have a job to tell them from the studio tracks. This is the first CD release and the recording quality is first class. Some of the lyrics might not suit the average church setting, indeed several songs are really anthems of the Jesus Fellowship itself, but they do communicate a refreshing spontaneity and avoid all the usual worship cliches. These are local church musicians doing it their way and all credit to them (whoever they are). OK, you might cringe at some of the lines and the occasional flat vocals but there are some real gems here. Of particular note is the beautiful hymn "Let Me Love Without Honour" which Tony Cummings highlighted in CR14 and is long overdue for inclusion in mainstream song books. If your worship band's getting a bit stale give them this album!

"Let Me Love Without Honour" was written based on the words of Watchman Nee, and suits the ethos of the Jesus Fellowship very well, it has to be said...
