The by-line says "real life, real music, real people" and I must agree. You may have come across Jim as a member of Northbound or in a solo guise, well this is something new. Firstly it is certainly the result of a hard working and skilled band not just a singer with backing. The southern-tinged rock sound here is definitely a sum of some very well played parts. Could Southern rock be a new category for contemporary music? If you can imagine early REM but poppier with stronger hooks and louder guitars you might be close. A browse of the website (music previews included) reveals Jim himself to be an insurance-finance type person by day but by night he gets to play the music he loves. That enthusiasm does come across in the delivery of some well written, crafted songs. The track I most liked is "Press On", a realistic view of running the race knowing troubles but with eternal hope still glowing.
