Joanna Barratt along with husband Maurice head up the Manchester-based Barratt Ministries, a faith-led multi-media group specialising in books, music and teaching seminars (read Joanna's fascinating testimony in CR56). They have just released an ambitious new video of Joanna's music taking songs from her '99 'My Chains Fell Off' project. Though an in-house work, the filming is impressive, blending powerfully with the true beauty of Joanna's strong, clear vocals. Eight songs and several drama acts are recorded -the stunning rendition of The Old Rugged Cross" and This Man Jesus" making for especially moving viewing/listening. Indeed it's the obvious passion and sincerity of Ms Barratt's vocals that make this one-hour production have most impact - it being clearly intended not as mere "entertainment" but as ministry, focusing poignantly on the meaning of "the cross" in daily life. An ideal resource for church libraries, house groups and individual viewing - I recommend it.
