What a DVD! It kicks off with an anointed prayer over a keyboard playing bendy notes, the keyboard then takes us into the first song, accompanied by worship dancers waving flags. When I saw the flags my cynical dark side wanted to say "corny", but no, these were nice flags, with ladies dancing who had worked hard at the choreography, my heart was won over and my right mind restored. Joe makes his way out and conducts the 120 strong choir through a bunch of scintillating grooving praise songs. Whatever frame of mind you happen to be in this performance will suck you in. I would quickly run out of adjectives trying to portray the excellence of this concert, give it five minutes of your time and you will want to see every last song. The band are superb; Terry Baker directs the music from his drums, he's Kirk Franklin's drummer and what a player he is, energetic, dynamic and with machine like precision. He guides the band through the most entertaining musical journey you are likely to see from any gospel band. They are a wonder to behold. Joe Pace is celebrating 10 years of music ministry and it's fitting that it should be celebrated. He's a humble man who has talent by the bucket-full: he writes, arranges, conducts and assembles the artists he wants to perform the songs - each member of the choir was hand picked, and all had worked with Joe before. The songs pick a simple theme and then settle into it, taking it in various pulsating directions. Guest singers take the mic and let their hearts rip, it's totally engaging. 20 tracks plus very interesting behind-the-scenes footage.
