I don't know where to start in reviewing this tape. The packaging is pretty good and there's a full set of lyrics which reveal that the songs that John has written are soundly scriptural. However, the production is woolly, with a preponderance of synth soundscapes and John's voice isn't very strong, leading to trouble with the high and the low notes; too much bass reverb doesn't help. The songs themselves are not terribly good either lyrically or melodically; most hark back to the Gospel Songs And Solos genre that was popular in the '60s, but which by the '70s had died a cheesy death; others are embarrassingly melodramatic and overblown and the whole thing was not a happy listening experience. Sadly a miss.
