Fans of Simeon And John expect quality musicianship and John Gerighty's first solo album with Eagle does not disappoint. The delicate chords of his classical guitar blend with violins, cellos, flute and panpipes (Simeon of course) and other instruments including the runaway saxophone to delight the soul and spirit. 11 tracks were composed by John himself to create an environment of stillness where we can relax enough to hear God's still small voice. By contrast, three more are John's own arrangements of two favourite hymns: Bach's "O Sacred Head" and Parry's "Dear Lord And Father Of Mankind"; and dance music "French Piece" written by De Visee at the court of Louis XIV (with additional keyboards). The beautiful title track is outstanding and certainly achieves John's purpose in putting together these instrumental pieces. John and Simeon met and formed their partnership at the Trinity School of Music nine albums ago. Since they have both gone solo, it is good to know that they still work together. A compulsive listen!
