Although now well into his 70s, I think the voice of this veteran preacher, author and leader of the occasional aggregation The Hagee Family stands up well. This CD opens brightly with "The Meeting In The Air" and then a couple of classics "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" and a very heartfelt version of "I'd Rather Have Jesus" before Pastor John gets very patriotic with his self-penned "Cry From Valley Forge". Brits will find this patriotic item pretty hard to take. One thing about John Hagee though, he is certainly not afraid to voice his opinions, even if you don't happen to agree with them! "When The Saints Go Marching In" gets a New Orleans type jazz backing while both the Oak Ridge Boys and Bill Gaither join the patriarch on a couple of tracks. I particularly enjoyed the last two tracks "When They Ring The Golden Bells" and the lovely "There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood", where I found John's heartfelt singing particularly effective.
