From across the pond comes the debut offering from someone with a high likelihood of joining that growing list of gospel acts with cult like followings on the underground R&B scene (you know the ones I'm talking about). John Butler serves up strong helpings of grown up (ie MOR) soul with a couple of classy instrumentals thrown in for good measure (the father and son team who play the sax and lead guitar respectively on "Sinking Sand" are ace, to say the least). I'm only guessing here, but I'm sure that back home in America, John isn't half as big as he could be. Then again, this is only his debut, so there's hope yet.
