Karen is a singer, songwriter and conference speaker who's worked in many different parts of the world, with a special emphasis on ministering to those who've been abused, whether mentally, physically or sexually. Her aim, she says, is to point them to Jesus, who loves unconditionally. She's known family tragedy in her own life, suffering the loss of a child some years ago, and these experiences are reflected in the 11 songs on this album. With the exception of Michael Ledner's worship anthem "You Are My Hiding Place", all the tracks were written by Karen, arranged by Matt Weeks and expertly mixed by Trevor Michael at the Loft in Eastbourne. The mood at times is rather sombre, not really surprising given the subject matter, but throughout the album, Karen's desire to point the listener to the Saviour shines through. Well worth the effort to get under the skin of the songs (and the singer) and unpack the heart of her ministry.
